You can only get an API key from the WordPress community, since we are using their software.
Visit http://www.wordpress.com and have a look.

ireach here is the instructions on how to get a API Key:
Quote:
API Keys

WordPress.com has what’s called “API keys” which allow you to use services and enhancements built on the WordPress.com platform. This allows you to leverage the power of WP.com while still hosting your blog elsewhere.

How do I get one?

When you sign up for a WordPress.com account we will email you an API key. If you already have a WordPress.com account, your API key is listed on your profile page, which you can get to by clicking the “My Account” link in the top right when you’re logged in.

Where will my API key be?

It will be in your welcome email. To make sure you get the email, avoid free services like Hotmail and MSN and check your spam filter if it doesn’t show up in a few minutes. (Also, consider whitelisting *@wordpress.com.)

Can I share my API key?

No, it’s like a password to your account.

What can I do with my API key?

One example is the new anti-spam service, Akismet. Install the Akismet plugin and enter your WP.com API key and your blog will be protected from spam the same way every blog on WordPress.com is.

In the future it will also give you access to stats and other add-on services.

here is the url to this topic on wordpress: http://wordpress.com/api-keys/
and here is the url to the fornt page of wordpress: http://wordpress.com

ireach the reason that you did not get a API key from us is that we are only using there software and you have to log into there system and follow the instruction that i gave you NOW the reason that you should use us over them is that we give you more disk space then them and you have control over your blog insted of them controlling your every move and your members moves. i was with them for two months and they will tell you what to do and if you dont like it they close your account and you loose everything!! here that is all you have to do is not violate the TOS and you are all good.. ;)

Post Re: API Key?
thanks. i got it that having WP blog from GetForum.org is useful.

but my question remain unanswered!

i just tried again registering a new blog on my email id but its not taking it (coz i have same "blog name" BLOG from GetForum.org and WP.com).. I've API ID from WP.COM which i registered on it before registering on GetForum.org BUT that API ID is not applicable for GetForum.org-WP Blog.

The info you provided from http://wordpress.com/api-keys/ is not working for me.. it mentioned as

How do I get one?

When you sign up for a WordPress.com account we will email you an API key. If you already have a WordPress.com account, your API key is listed on your profile page, which you can get to by clicking the “My Account” link in the top right when you’re logged in.

Here,, since i already have WP Blog from GetForum.org, why I should again register on WP.com??? if yes, what username i should use and registering email account... its not working out here buddy!

Where will my API key be?

It will be in your welcome email. To make sure you get the email, avoid free services like Hotmail and MSN and check your spam filter if it doesn’t show up in a few minutes. (Also, consider whitelisting *@wordpress.com.)
